It’s time – the most expected weekends of the year are near! Coachella is opening the festival season with huge acts such as the headliners Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead and Lady Gaga – replacing Beyoncé. But even better, as Coachella comes back every year setting the trends of the hype, we will have the chance to see some of the hottest artists from a great bunch of styles and music scenes. But how to choose what to see having so many options?

In terms of Electronic Music, no matter if you are a techno head, a deep-house fan or an EDM-lover, Coachella is the place to be. Well, we don’t have anything personal against Dillon Francis or Martin Garrix, but we just love deeper beats. For those who share the taste, we created a selection of 5 Coachella 2017 acts you cannot miss. You’re welcome, are house music or techno aficionados.

The Belleville Three

Maybe the most significant DJ set at the whole festival, The Belleville Three reunites the three men who created techno as we know today. Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and Derrick May met at Belleville High School in the early 80s and influenced by electronic sounds from Berlin and the DJ culture of American ghettos, presented to the world a new way of making music.

The techno foundational trio rarely plays together, to hear them live at Coachella is a great privilege and maybe a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Richie Hawtin

When the three kids from Belleville were disseminating techno music in Detroit, a young boy from Canada was crossing the borders every weekend just to see them play. Since then, the boy became a legend. Richie Hawtin is the boss of the legendary labels Plus 8 and M-nus, the father of minimal techno and the head behind Plastikman. Already a veteran of Coachella’s Yuma tent, the techno pioneer brings a card under the sleeve this year: the mixer Model 1, developed by Richie at his new company PLAYdifferently.

The German techno and house music producer holds the crown as the Best DJ of the Year, according to Resident Advisor. It is undeniable that these previous years have been the best of Dixon’s career and that his label, Innervisions, is one of the most important brands of house music in the world today. The DJ brings smiles to the dance floor, shaping the atmosphere with beautiful melodies, orgasmic breaks and fat grooves that make you keep dancing.

Three techno heavyweights from Berlin join forces to create Moderat: Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary from Modeselektor and Sascha Ring a.k.a. Apparat. 12 years after they first met and for the third time working together, Moderat brings a heavy, bass-oriented and mind-blowing act. If you like machinery sounds, you can expect industrial techno from the future for ear-ringing clubbers.

Floating Points

The British musician and neuroscientist Sam Sheppard is Floating Points. Translating a unique combination of soul, jazz, progressive and classical to electronic music, Floating points brings you into an immersive journey of sounds and textures. Sheppard brings the spacey side of London to the desert and unveils his music as it is: a piece art.

If you think that a Top 5 is too little for a festival like Coachella, you are one of us! Bicep, Solomun, Nicola Jaar, Sasha, Maya Jane Coles, Marcel Dettman and Ben UFO are some of our other recommendations.

So, get your festival pack ready and see you out on the polo field!
